About me.

I always knew writing to be one of my inner most passions dating back to when I would write terrible poetry as a little girl about things as profound as the seasons — but I always had an innate love for people.  I started off my soul-searching as a social work major at Saginaw Valley State University. During that time I volunteered at a local soup kitchen for a semester, where I  would find myself asking people a ton of questions that always led to deep discussions about life. I decided from that point on that I needed to share this new knowledge I learned and the anecdotes of these people by writing it all down, which led me to change majors to creative writing. From that experience I learned that even though I adore writing poetry, I also love the idea of writing for a news publication. It was then that I decided to transfer during my sophomore year of college to Oakland University where I took up studying Journalism. I have been very active in my education since, and helped start up a campus Magazine club, “Gold Magazine,” which taught me a lot about social media, writing in magazine style, editing and page design. Currently, I am Social Media Editor for our campus newspaper, The Oakland Post. I am also Social Media Editor and Copy Editor for The Oakland Post’s newest edition, our magazine, The Pioneer.
